Definition of Basic Social Science
Basic Social Science or Ilmu Sosial Dasar (ISD) is a science that examines social problems that arise and develop, especially those embodied by the citizens of Indonesia by using terms (facts, concepts, theories) that come from different fields of expertise knowledge in the field sciences social. So, Basic Social Science is combination of social sciences are in use in approach and solving social problems that arise in the society.
Background of the Basic Social Science :
· The amount of criticism directed at the higher education system by several scholars.
· Our educational system into something that elite for our own society, so people are less familiar with the environment.
Three Types of Ability :
· Personal Ability (Personal Capacity)
Can demonstrate the attitude and personality of the Indonesian nation, know and understand the values of religious, community, state and broad view of society.
· Academic Ability
The ability to communicate scientifically, both orally and in writing, mastering equipment analysis, logical thinking, critical, systematic, analytical.
· Professional Ability
Ability in the field of professional expertise is concerned. Experts are expected to have a high knowledge.
Purpose of Basic Social Science
· Understand and recognize the social realities and social problems that exist in society.
· Assisting the development of insight into the thoughts and personality of the citizens of Indonesia to gain insights into the broadest sense.
· Citizens of Indonesia have the attitude and good behavior in society.
· Understanding the mindset of experts from other fields of science and can communicate with them.
· Sensitive to social issues and responsive to participate in overcoming business.
The Scope of Basic Social Science
Material Basis of Social Sciences, made up of social problems. To be able to explore social issues, first, we can identify the social realities and understand a number of certain social concepts. Consortium Intergovernmental Affairs has determined that the Basic Social Sciences lecture consists of 8 (eight) subjects.
The content of 8 (eight) subjects were :
· A variety of population problems in relation to the development of society and culture.
· Individual problems, families and communities.
· Youth problems and socialization.
· Problem of the relationship between citizen and state.
· Problems coatings the social and equality.
· Problem of urban and rural communities.
· The problem of social conflicts and integration.
· Utilization of science and technology for prosperity and welfare of the community.
